A magneto is a simplified ignition system that directly converts the motion of kicking or cranking into a high voltage spark. Since it works independently, it will still function with a faulty electrical system, a dead battery or no battery at all.
Morris Magnetos
Over a decade ago, we recognized the need for an ignition that would out-start any other ignition, kick or electric start, on any size motor from stock to totally radical.
All Morris Magnetos are self-contained magnetos. High voltage is derived directly from a spinning magnet. The faster it turns the higher the output. It involves one energy conversion as opposed to three in other ignitions. (Beware! Some ignitions billed as "magnetos" are actually pulse-generators feeding an external coil, not much different than your battery-coil ignition.)
Magnetos are often used in applications such as aircraft and batteryless engines, where reliability is a must! All Morris Magnetos have some type of advance system to make starting easier.
